BVC IIT Kanpur aims to bridges the gap between science and spirituality through a scientific presentation of ancient Vedic Scriptures. We are here to promote holistic living amongst the student community through cleanliness habits, nutritious diets, regular mantra meditation sessions, seminars on Bhagavad Gita, selfless service and a life centered around Lord Krishna.
BVC organises a variety of events throughout the year to promote spiritual wisdom in and around the campus. Our annual Festival - Janmashtami witnesses huge footfall from the campus as well as visitors from outside. BVC also conducts Institute level lecture series on Bhagavad Gita and daily Mantra Meditation Classes. Our Melodious Kirtans, delicious prasadam and divinely intoxicating retreats are loved by all.
Janmashtami is the Annual Flagship Event of BVC witnessed by 1000's of people celebrated with the intention to foster Krishna Consciousness in the campus. The Major attractions include many cultural performances of Dance, Drama, Kirtan, Art and much more. The Campus is very beautifully decorated with dioramas & colourful paintings. The free delicious dinner prasadam is loved by all.
BVC Members have published many research papers in reputed journals related to Consciousness and Cognition taking ideas from the Ancient Indian Literature. We have given many talks on Consciousness and the modern Scientific Worldview in premier institutes like MIT. Our team secured 3rd rank worldwide in Amazon Robotics Challenge 2017.
BVC organizes various adventrous retreats to places like Omkareshwar, Badrinath, Rishikesh, Vrindavan , Mayapur etc during the summer vacations and mid-end sem breaks. The retreats enthuse you spiritually and gives a much needed break from the studies. The Retreat is attended by various senior Alumnis & Professors from IIT Kanpur and Other IIT's.
BVC run Bhagavad Pathshala for kids in nearby villages of IIT Kanpur every day from 3-5 PM helping them with their school subjects along with inculcating them with spiritual values to make them a person of character and values. In the lockdown period,BVC started the initiative to provide daily prasadam meals to atleast 300 starving poor children nearby IIT Kanpur everyday
Unlike the uni-directional focus of most other clubs at IITK, BVC provides an excellent platform to help students simultaneously become experts in Musical Instruments, Drama, Singing, Event Coordination, Time Management, Cooking, Sanskrit education, Indian Philosophy, Photography and much more, to have a holistic growth and unique personality
BVC conducts a week long Bhagavad Gita Lecture Series at Insitute Level for all the students. The Bhagavad Gita is presented very scientifically contrasting it to the prevelant modern scientific theories with hot debates and discussions. Various sessions on Practical Mind Controlling Techniques such as Mantra Meditation, Cognitive behavioral therapy etc are also held.
